1. Cite
Cite the PSTC grant number in any current or future publication supported by PSTC services, tools, or funding. Grant numbers and example acknowledgments are provided below. Citations are reported to the NIH and used as a key metric to secure ongoing Center funding.
Under the Stevens Amendment, each publication, press release, or other public facing document (e.g., websites, social media posts, conference presentations, resource guides, and RFPs) describing research supported by a DoL, DoEd, or DHHS grant or cooperative agreement must also clearly state:
- The percentage of the total costs of the program or project financed with federal funds;
- The total dollar amount of funds allocated to the federal award in the specific project period;
- The percentage and dollar amount of the total costs of the project or program financed by non-governmental/non-federal sources (e.g., University funds, private foundations, or state funds).
In addition, Publications, press releases and other public facing documents must include the following three statements:
- A specific acknowledgment of NIH grant supports;
- An acknowledgement of the level of NIH funding;
- A disclaimer that reads: “The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health.”
2. Send
Send the final, pre-formatted version of all peer-reviewed publications to PSTC_PubMed@brown.edu. The articles must also be deposited in NIH's PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication. It is the author's responsibility to ensure this is done. Some journals make deposits automatically; this can also be done by the author or by PSTC staff, if requested. Authors should always verify that their articles have been submitted in order to comply with the NIH public access policy.
