Global Fellows Program in Demography

The Population Studies and Training Center (PSTC) at Brown University invites applications for its Global Fellows Program. The PSTC has a long-standing tradition of hosting scholars, researchers, and practitioners from diverse corners of the globe.

Program Description

Our Center serves as a hub for the exchange of ideas, methodologies, and insights into population studies, demography, and related fields. The Global Fellows Program in Demography extends an invite to global scholars worldwide to join our academic community and immerse themselves in Brown University’s vibrant intellectual environment.

The Global Fellows Program in Demography is open to early- and mid-career demographers working in one of the PSTC's five primary research areas. In 2025, we plan to host Fellows from research institutions in Africa. To apply, interested individuals can review eligibility information and a detailed outline of the application process at PSTC’s website, linked below. The application process is competitive, and selected Fellows will be invited to join us for a month-long visit during the academic year.

The Global Fellows Program offers a range of benefits and opportunities to scholars, including:

Eligibility

Candidates for the Global Fellows Program should have:

  • A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in their field of study.
  • A demonstrated commitment to demographic research and scholarship.
  • A clear research plan or project that aligns with the expertise, resources, and community at Brown University’s Population Studies and Training Center.

Application

The application process is competitive, and selected Fellows will be invited to join us for a month-long visit during the Spring semester (February - May). To apply, please fill out this Google Form. The application package include the following:

  1. Application Form: Complete the official application Google Form.
  2. Letter of Application: In your letter of application, please 1) describe your current population research; and 2) explain your interest in the Global Fellows Program, including the specific goals you hope to achieve and how your research will contribute to the academic community. 
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV): Provide an updated CV or résumé that highlights your academic and professional background, publications, and research experience.
  4. References: Please provide the names, titles, and emails of 2 academic or professional contacts who can speak to your qualifications and the value of your research project. 

Rolling Deadline

We will consider applications on a rolling basis beginning on December 1, 2024​.
