Madeline’s primary research interests lie at the intersections of racialization, reproduction, and child welfare. Her current research focuses on the movement to reform international adoption policy in Norway. This project examines the social work of reproductive and child welfare bans within the context of evolving understandings of child and human rights, race, coloniality, and reproductive governance. Central to her research is a critical engagement with humanitarianism, advocacy, and storytelling. Before joining Brown, Madeline worked in child welfare and the social justice nonprofit sector.
