Israel's research interests encompass economic history, growth theory, and political economy. Currently, he's exploring the impact of social networks on cultural integration and occupational specialization in nineteenth-century Germany. Previously, he investigated the deep roots of cultural values and institutions. In his spare time, Israel enjoys reading books, learning new languages, and swimming.
