PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] – PSTC Faculty Associate Dennis Hogan was recently named an Honored Member of the Population Association of America in recognition of his contributions to the field of demography.
Hogan is the Robert E. Turner Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Sociology and a former PSTC Director. Hogan’s research is largely concerned with life course transitions, particularly for children and adolescents, with a particular focus on children with disabilities.
His 2012 book, The Family Consequences of Children’s Disability, which studied the effects of child disability on family life, including mothers’ participation in the labor force and parents’ decisions about having additional children, won the PAA’s 2012 Otis Dudley Duncan Award for Best Book in Social Demography.
