PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] – Jerome Marston, a PSTC predoctoral trainee in Political Science, has been awarded the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Award. Marston, who studies violence and human rights abuses in Latin America, will be using his award to continue his research in Bogota and Medellin, Colombia. He has previously spent a year there conducting a survey and gathering data. Marston's dissertation looks at forced displacement in Colombian cities, where families and individuals are sometimes forced to flee their homes due to drug-related gang violence, and move to another part of the same city or even farther away.
