PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] – Professor of Sociology Michael J. White has been named the new director of Spatial Structures in the Social Sciences (S4), effective July 1. He replaces Professor of SociologyJohn Logan, who has been the director since 2004. 

White has significant leadership experience, having served as the PSTC director from 2006-2011. He has also has served on the Board of Directors of the Population Association of America and on the scientific panels and advisory committees for organizations including the National Institutes of Health, the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, the U.S. National Academies, and the INDEPTH network of demographic surveillance centers.
