
Phoebe Sloane
Biography
Phoebe is a doctoral student in Health Services Research at the Brown University School of Public Health. Phoebe focuses on implementation research and impact evaluations of health services, with particular interest in how to integrate various health and social support services to increase their efficiency and effectiveness. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked for almost 15 years on evaluations of family planning, child health, and early childhood development interventions globally. Most recently, she led research, monitoring, and learning for the International Rescue Committee's Ahlan Simsim ("Welcome Sesame" in Arabic) project, a 5-year, $100 million initiative to improve early childhood development services and policies for children affected by crisis and conflict in the Middle East. She co-led randomized controlled trials and implementation studies in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria to generate evidence for service and policy improvement. She is currently collaborating with a team at Boston Medical Center to study integration of behavioral health services into pediatric primary care in the US. Prior to starting her doctoral studies, Phoebe received her Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Brown University. Outside of school, Phoebe enjoys rowing, swimming, and spending time with her two cats.
