PSTC Summer Grant Writing Workshop

The PSTC is now accepting applications for the Summer Grant Writing Workshop. Applications are due June 4.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] – The PSTC is now accepting applications for the Summer Grant Writing Workshop, which aims to support junior and mid-career PSTC faculty associates who have not yet received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a sole PI. Applications for the workshop are due June 4.

The workshop: The PSTC is again organizing a summer workshop to assist in the preparation of new NIH research applications for faculty associates with limited prior NIH grant application experience. Activity will be concentrated in the summer and early fall of 2018, with periodic 1:1 or group meetings, approximately every 2-3 weeks, with an anticipated submission in late 2018 or early 2019. Participants will be advised by experienced NIH-funded researchers, and will share their drafts with other participants. Workshop content will include a social-science-focused overview of the NIH review process; advice on construction of effective application components, such as Specific Aims and Research Strategy; and assistance with developing a budget and supporting documentation. Applicants should be junior or mid-career faculty associates who have yet to receive NIH R01 funding as a sole PI. Submission of a suitable application (R01, R03, R21) will be supported by a research account of $8,000 (or salary equivalent) by the PSTC. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, share full proposal for internal review at least three weeks in advance of submission, and submit proposal through the PSTC.
