PSTC trainees selected as PAA poster winners

At the annual meeting of the PAA, PSTC predoctoral trainees Zhen Liu (Sociology) and Xuan Zhang (Economics) were selected as poster session winners.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] – At the annual meeting of the Population Association of America (PAA) last week, two PSTC predoctoral trainees were selected as poster session winners. Zhen Liu, a PhD candidate in Sociology, was selected for her research on "Health Inequality among Rural Elderly in China: The Role of Children's Migration." Xuan Zhang, a PhD candidate in Economics, was selected for her research on "Expanding Health Insurance to Parents: Effect on Children's Care Use and Health." 

The PAA annual meeting took place in Denver April 26-28 with more than 40 PSTC affiliates making over 50 appearances on the program, including 23 PSTC predoctoral trainees and 6 postdoctoral fellows. Nine of their presentations featured collaborative work with PSTC faculty associates. Center affiliates are also serving as chairs and discussants for multiple sessions over the three days. A full listing of Brown University PAA participation is available here.

The PSTC also hosted a reception on Friday evening during the conference, with more than 100 PSTC affiliates, alumni, and friends in attendance.

The 2019 meeting will take place April 11-13 in Austin.
