PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] – The PSTC welcomes two Leadership Alliance participants to the Center this summer. They are among the 28 participating in the program at Brown this year. In addition to working on their own projects, Desiree Lloyd and Nicolas Lopez are being mentored by PSTC faculty and assisting them with their research. They also participate in weekly seminars and GRE prep on campus and are preparing to give poster presentations at Brown in August and oral presentations at the Leadership Alliance National Symposium at the end of July.
Lloyd, a rising senior in Public Health at DePaul University in Chicago, is working with Professor of Sociology Michael White and Postdoctoral Research Associate Tyler Myroniuk. She is doing work in STATA and using GIS, looking at the association between social grants and health in South Africa.
Lopez, a rising senior in Math with an Economics concentration at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, is working with Professor of Economics and Community Health Andrew Foster. He is working in STATA using data from India that looks at changes in families, households, and employment from 2006-2016.
